We're Hiring a Researcher!

Spirits is looking for a researcher to help with our weekly mythology and folklore podcast! We’ve been running the show for over six years now and want to expand the depth, reach, and knowledge base of the myths, legends, and folklore we’re covering. We're looking for someone who is excited about mythology and how to communicate these stories through audio. They’ll report to Amanda McLoughlin and Julia Schifini.

Responsibilities:

- Assisting the hosts with researching and compiling information for upcoming episodes

- Identifying and pitching new episode topics, alongside the hosts

- Listening to drafts of episodes and giving feedback on tone, accessibility, sensitivity, etc

Qualifications:

- Organized, thorough, and knows their way around Google Scholar or JSTOR

- The person you go to when you ask “does this exist on the internet?”

- Experience in sensitivity reading/listening or giving feedback on creative projects more generally

- Listen to and enjoy podcasts (though not necessarily ours!)

- Interest in mythology or folklore. (Formal education or pedagogy in these subjects is not required, but would be a plus!)

Details:

Pay: $30 USD per hour

Hours: 20-30 per month 

Location: Remote (all countries eligible)
